Hi, Kate! I was just wondering which program/organization you used to take your trip out of the country (I forget which one, sorry)? I would like to do something similar and spend a few months in another place. If you don't mind me asking; how much did it cost, and what exactly were your duties while you were there? It;d be great if you could answer this and maybe elaborate on your experience more. Thank you so much!

^this is the trip I went on. look at the other semester programs too. ours had a lot of backpacking and was very physically strenuous. it was a lot of work but the scenery was worth it. life was very rugged. it was a magnificent 94 days. message me off anon and i could tell you about things more specifically. or read my journal entries by going through my ‘journal’ tag.

You remind me so much of Suzy Bishop, it's unbearable! You're both so imaginative and beautiful and self-assured, and you're both very cute and look quite similar!

a cold fortress carved into dead black mountains. a stark, unforgiving landscape. everyone is clad in black - satin, leather, and velvet. i am the queen. the interior of my fortress is of smooth black marble, and the ceilings are vaulted in the Gothic style. many artifacts of an occult nature are kept on display. I keep a fearsome black dragon chained at the entrance, and it answers only to me and my most honorable guardsmen. in the dungeons, i keep a pit of poisonous snakes (a fate to befall traitors). i feed them myself. i have many warriors who are loyal to me alone. we are not far from the cold grey sea. our ships are carved in the likeness of terrible beasts. (draws on inspiration from: mordor, isengard, maleficent, the ‘Closer’ music video by nine inch nails, the opening scene in harry potter 7 part 2, nazgûls, the dead marshes, Sweeney Todd, high Andes mountains, the queen in Snow White, viking longships, the Greek underworld)
an elaborate tree dwelling carved into a redwood. the forest is dark and dense. everything glows. fairies flit deftly from limb to limb. flowers speak, clouds laugh. feelings float. some trees are wise and subdued, others are playful and their leaves glimmer and pulsate from green to magenta to swimming pool blue. fluttering wings fill the night. some birds are impossibly beautiful and elusive. everything talks - not always with words - boulders can communicate telepathically. the fairy king and queen live at the top of the highest tree. a golden glow emanates from above. they are kind and just. little caterpillars spread gossip about whoever they have been observing. frogs can morph into birds. flowers bloom and wilt in a day, and then are born again and again. the movement never ceases. (draws on inspiration from: zoombinis, Animal Collective, Lothlórien, Doriath, A Koopa’s Revenge (the forest segment, of course), Brian Froud, psychedelic trips, dreams, fern gully, Alice in Wonderland, the yungas)
ice palace. exquisitely carved. within the walls, the light is always of an eerie bluish sheen that one only sees in glaciers. there is a chamber with an extraordinarily high domed ceiling. this is the bath chamber. hot springs have been excavated deep beneath the ground and a warm, placid lagoon has been formed. it is a most unearthly place, silent, with soft white steam eclipsing the blue glacial light. the Ice Queen looks to have been carved from a glacier herself. she can speak to wolves and whales. she is seldom seen, because she has an undersea realm where she lives among hungry starfish and curious anemones. the people of the ice palace protect their realm with songs. they weave music from wind, and all the love and passion they release into their melodies becomes terrible fury in the icy wind that guards the realm. (draws on inspiration from: Narnia, ‘Frozen’ music video by Madonna, the Southern ocean, Yuki-onna, the Blue Lagoon, underwater caves, blue sharks)

i forgot how much i love carnival rides. they’re 10 times better when you’re high
i love the company of plants and birds above all else and i don’t think i can ever make a true friend.
my self esteem, on a scale of 1 to 10, is probably a negative twenty eight. sometimes i can’t even move because i despise myself so much.
it should scare me to know how much hatred i have for myself, but all i feel is a giant void of emotion. forever and ever and ever, i can never feel a thing
